World Patient Safety Day Commemorated

In reinforcing the minister of Health and Wellness Dr. Edwin Dikoloti’s remarks on World Patient Safety Day, Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital commemorated the day at Jubilee Clinic.

Today marked the first ever commemoration in Botswana held under the theme” health worker Safety; a priority for Patient Safety: speak up for health workers. The theme focuses on the interrelationship between health workers and patient safety.

Greater Francistown DHMT Head, Ms. Rose Munyere said patients’ safety covers a wide range of healthcare issues ranging from governance, surgical, healthcare acquired infections as well as medication errors.”

She further went on to say it calls for the entire health sector to develop a comprehensive patient safety and worker safety strategies. Furthering that communities need to understand that health workers should be protected with the understanding that when the health workers are at risk then we are also at risk.

“It also indicates the importance of the patient safety agenda that government have to pay attention to, as well as response to the ‘call to action’ to effect necessary changes.” She added.Read more...
