Ms Ruth Maphorisa was appointed Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health in April 2018. Ms Maphorisa holds a Master of Arts in Rural Development as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration.

Ms Maphorisa has served in key ministerial functions, having worked in local government where she rose through the ranks to become District Commissioner. She served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Permanent Secretary in the then Ministry o Education and Skills Development as well as Director at the Directorate of Public Service Management.
