Government launches strategy for Non-Communicable Diseases

When giving an overview, the Minister of Health and Wellness Honourable Dr Alfred Madigele highlighted that the purpose of the strategy for non-communicable diseases is mainly three-fold. Initially it will identify national priorities for addressing NCDs, with emphasis on prevention, primary care, holistic approaches and multi-sectoral participation. It will outline a roadmap of efforts and critical activities that will be integrated by various stakeholders in addressing NCDs, and identify primary indicators and targets in order to assess the effects and impact of programme efforts.

Dr Madigele also mentioned that the event serves as a reflection of the country’s national efforts in the response to ending AIDS and reducing the burden of HIV among its people.

In closing the Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Honourable Nonofo Molefhi implored all Government Ministries to lead boldly to emancipate Botswana from all conditions, both socially and developmentally.
