Kajaja Receives a Health PostPresident Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama officially handed over the P2.5m health post facility to Kgosi Mothaedi Siana of Kajaja settlement on the 15th January 2015. The modern facility which will offer services such as IDCC, General consultation, Maternal Child Health was donated by a prominent businessman Mr Farouk Ismail. It will also offer primary health services such as Maternal Child Health (MCH), IDCC and General Consultation. It includes reception hall, general consultation room, pharmacy, injection room, Sexual Reproductive Health room, IDCC room, ablution block for staff, ablution block for patients, guard room and a staff house.
When officiating at the opening ceremony the Minister of Health Honourable Dorcas Makgato thanked Mr Ismail for the donation and said that the clinic will help in improving the community’s access to health services. The Minister mentioned that the facility is already in operation and that so far 234 patients have been consulted and the 50 patients on ARV from the village have been assisted.
Mr Rashid Chopdat, a family representative, encouraged the Kajaja community to take good care of their clinic. He also mentioned that they are giving the facility to the Kajaja community to show that they are living the 2016 Vision pillar of being “a compassionate and caring nation”. Kajaja settlement is in the Okavango Sub-District and in the past the community travelled about 14 kilometers to either Nxamasere or Sepopa villages to access health services. The Chopdat family has in the past donated a clinic in the Tswapong region as well as 200 beds to Sbrana psychiatric Hospital.
